NIGHT DRIVE MUSIC.....

Mexican Independent Music guru Camilo Lara delivers two of the absolutehighlights of his stunning album Piñata.
El Microfono is a funny catchysong with a piano riff that keeps your head nodding at all times.Nickodemus took this and has delivered an absolute party number led byace rolling drums and groovy afrobeatnik guitar.
The kind of heavyhitter you would expect from Nicko's amazing NY party, Turntables on TheHudson.Para no vivir desesperado could be described as a killer Mariachi HipHop track. It blends a cumbia beat with some astonishing horns in theBanda Norteña style.
Fans of M.I.A and Diplo should check this one out.NSM...PSM (No somos machos pero somos muchos / we are not machos but weare many) is a turntablism combo from Mexico DF and who have delivered awicked remix.
Imagine Daft Punk drinking Tequila with De La Soul andPerez Prado. Not sure if this is an accurate way to describe it, butit's funny to imagine the DaftPunkers drinking Tequila shots with theirspace helmets on.

The package is completed by an outstanding remix byDiesler, delivering the goods from Brighton. Expect fat beats!

Amber Psy Disco Mix is a pumped-up four to the floor take on a9ent0ran9e's opening album track. Featuring the angelic vocals of Alexandra Lea and echoes the euphoria of Kirsty Hawkshaw’s work and the female Vocal / Breaks fusion of Dark Globe and Amanda Ghost.
This track builds on straight-ahead beats, progressively rising to a massive climax which mixes soaring Acid lead arpeggios with uplifting vocal effects rippling over bouncy driving basslines.

Kira Neris has been one of the most interesting things to come out from France lately. Their sound, connecting the dots between Jazz and all good things Detroit, have been championed by Gilles Peterson and the key Headz out there.
Lovemonk has released Behind Closed Doors in Spain, originally released by our friends at Futuristica for the rest of the world. And now this very limited transparent 12” vinyl contains two explosive and exclusive remixes. Panoptikum starts by remixing Season 9 Episode 12.
After the bomb they delivered with their remix of Schema’s The Invisible Session, they keep up their deep and groovy Detroit sound. This cut sounds like is gonna be big, so don't say we didn't tell. Pepe Link, the Balearic master, took Back To my House and brought back a slow fireburning track. Moving house for the most discerning dancefloor.
absolutely hypnotic.
A must have.

Smile on Impact

"Where's My Dollar?"

Dont Doo Dat records
How many fingers am I holding up? It's hard for you to tell as I am communicating to you through written text. 'But it's still a visual medium!' you may say. However, this outlandish statement, it fails to address to fact that, you still don't know the answer.

Unless, you are of the one in ten people whom, by shear chance have chosen the correct number. But, that is based on numerous assumptions about the heath of my extremities and the likelihood that I'm not just a digit-less, ex-meat worker, whose inability to type makes the whole exercise impossible. That's a pretty fair assumption.

Congratulations on your observational prowess. Perhaps you're in the wrong business? Perhaps you are the Sherlock Holmes of our generation? Perhaps you should consider a career change? But of course, a career in the police force or as a private eye would have you lose touch, with the Music scene. No longer would you be at the forefront of the industry.

You would be a joke to all your former colleagues because you were not up to date with cutting-edge, electro, crossover acts like 'Smile on Impact'... and that would be embarrassing. By now, you're thinking "I should have just started reading from this bit!" Belonging to a new wave of independent producers who are taking on the world as part of the Mp3 Revolution, Smile on Impact's First single 'Where's My Dollar?" is being sold on over 200 Music websites around the planet.

The lyrics of 'Where's My Dollar?' have an unmistakable Melbourne Underworld tone and should ring true to anyone who has ever been owed money. Cam Weller from Melbourne group 'High Rise Roller' performs the vocals on this track; his dark deep tone compliments the dirty, gritty electro sound that Smile on Impact has been praised for.

The Track, in its several guises is getting massive club play from some of Australia's biggest DJs. Especially bambam's Where's my Remix. The momentum building behind this track will cement Smile on Impact as one of the most exciting new producers in the Australian scene.

Ben Lian

One Week

Devoré Recordings

Miami WMC 2008 has just finished and all the parties have been danced off and the tunes for 2008 have been hyped up and played over and over and over….
Devore Recordings are not to be forgotten, they are back to thrill your mind with another scorcher of a track! Benn Lian makes his debut on the label with an E.P to cry for!
His skill on making driving tech to techno tracks caught Devore ears from the word go and has made him a favourite in DJs sets on the underground circuit! Firstly, ‘Listen close, stay tuned’ means exactly what it wants you to do, tech infused with great pads and synths used to the maximum.
It builds slowly and grows nicely with a nice deep element to it but still strong enough for the main set, definitely listen close and stay tuned because the drop is amazing! Next is ‘One week’ which has a fuller, warm feel to it, more driving techno but with a deep hypnotic edge to it, the bass carries the track along perfectly.
Finally the E.P is topped off with ‘The things you say’ which is the tougher of the three, a big room feel to it with big beats, growling bassline and stabbing vocals to give that dark progressive edge to it, perfect for dropping and switching it at those mad moments! This was made to tear up the dance floor so you have been warned! This amazing E.P has it all and is a sure hotshot for all the DJs across the board so you heard it hear first!
Please show your love & support and Devour into what Devore Recordings is all about with the new artists of today & the future! Quality house music!

Morgan Page - Longest Road (Nettwerk)

Deadmau5/Robbie Rivera/Terry Grant/Discount Rhino Remixes
Morgan Page has swiftly become one of the most sought after remixers on the scene. His reworkings of songs by leading artists (Angie Stone, Stevie Nicks, Nelly Furtado and more) have consistently hit the top of the US Billboard Club Chart, including three number one hits in 2006 alone. Longest Road, is the first single to be taken from Morgan’s forthcoming album, Elevate (released March 24th).
It features lead vocals by Californian folk artist Lissie, who Page calls ‘one of the most exciting voices I’ve heard in years.’ Laurel Canyon meets Hollywood, the song effortlessly fuses laidback folk rock influences with the edge and energy of electronic music. On remix duty is a heavyweight line up, including man of the moment Deadmau5, the legendary Robbie Rivera plus Discount Rhino and Terry Grant. The Deadmau5 treatment also appearing as a bonus 13th track on the album itself. A stunning package.

FUNKERMAN - SPEED UP
(DEFECTED RECORDS)

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Description:One of the most classic house tunes ever released, Kimara Lovelace’s “When Can Our Love Begin”

One of the most classic house tunes ever released, Kimara Lovelace’s “When Can Our Love Begin” rises from the depths of the King St. vault to see the new light of day. UK jazz-soul-funk producer/dj and classically trained pianist, Richard Earnshaw is on remix duty and funks the hell out of this tune. He keeps the song’s soulful integrity intact while furthering the funk with organ stabs, light cowbells, and lovely lush breakdowns. Kimara’s achingly beautiful vocal makes the record but for those who simply like their music sans voice, there’s an instrumental thrown in for good measure. Also on the release is the legendary Timmy Regisford Shelter Anthem mix, which is when and where all this love began.

Terry Lee Brown Junior - Bonzai Drive

One of the most frequent names in Plastic City label's history has convinced his audience and critics by always being different while remaining a unique character of the housy upper class. He succeeded changing topics and following the rule of never producing just one kind of music. Today Terry Lee Brown Junior is one of the most happening and respected House Artists around. This is probably due to the passion and love he invests in his uncompromising productions and mix sets. His albums and mix CDs have shown the world that House music not only works on the dancefloor, but also in a comfy chair. The last release in 2007 from Plastic City comes with a special announcement: "Softpack", Terry's next album is in the pipe and this is an exclusive preview on the next chapter of delightful entertainment. The Release proves again Terry's status as one of the few who are able to reinvent themselves everyday!
Articulations, mixed by David Alvarado (compilation)
David Alvarado's schedule is a pretty hectic one – he travels all around the globe spinning at the most famous venues, runs several labels and still finds enough time for developing and spreading his own productions and enlarge his magnificent catalogue. Richie Hawtin and Josh Wink have been and supporting this genius producer and dj who also can proudly put a bunch of released Mix-CDs on the table. Guidance Records, Plastic City, Peace Frog, Ovum, Ultra, Strictly Rhythm…at the present there is more than 40 single releases and albums around for many occasions. David always tried to give a new taste to underground house and techhouse music culture and nowadays succeeds again by presenting another labor of love at Plastic City: Articulations. This DJ mix is a speech of a real connoisseur. More than a decade he has been working between underground and global networking and the underground culture which influenced his style and taste now relates to his deep sound! Just listen to the fabulous compilation which he mixed together in a smooth manner- this guy really knows how to bring you away from common spheres! Einzelkind, Jackmate, Microstar, Argy, The Mulder and some more pearls of techhouse culture unconsciously and relaxed flow into each. The "who is who" of the first league shakes hand with this never-ending construction. David underlines the fact that Plastic City again is suited in the center of house and techhouse music. Enjoy a trip to wonderland with bright spheres, deep grooves, a warm breeze and midnight sun. What you want more!

El Farouki - Take My Hand
El Farouki started producing electronic dance music after seven years of violin and classical music. Mybe this is the reason why he is expressing more than you expect when hearing the first sounds. The native-born Moroccan knows very well handling rhythms and grooves and sends us on a trip through a world full of dance and pleasant moments. Sometimes very minimal and warm, sometimes rhythmically angry and chasing, his works show the different facings of his skills. His music releases suit very well for the floor but also for the couch at home, never-ending energy. It is perfect to stay awake, to forget everything for some minutes and leave it. After his debut release "Mouth Of groove" on Plastic City in spring 2007 and his exclusive contributions to the current label compilations, El Farouki now release his second EP called "Take My Hand" on Plastic City. This release is again perfect to stay awake, to forget everything for some minutes and leave it. While dancing please close your eyes, the effect is long-lasting...
Deep Train 5 - Sensual Dawn --- mixed by The Timewriter
Subtitled Sensual Dawn, Jean F. Cochois aka The Timewriter presents the fifth edition of his mix-series Deep Train. Emotional, sensual and with his well-known and distinctive style, he yet again succeeds in creating a special atmosphere through selecting some exquisite track titles – all typical for his ongoing theme. With this mix, The Timewriter steers the train away from commonly known tracks; instead purposefully focussing on pure musicality by including artists such as Robert Graf, Round Two, Pete Gust or Diogenes Club. With top tunes from Sian (also featured on play-lists from Carl Craig, Loco Dice, Ame, Ben Watt, Marc Romboy, Steve Lawler, Laurent Garnier and many others) and Nikola Gala, a currently much in-demand artist from Greece, The Timewriter builds a bridge to the inhabitants of Plastic City by combining the sound typical to the label together with his outstanding taste in music and sensitive feel. Also featured is Rob Pearson, who just had his debut on Plastic City and currently working on his new album. This truly is a bundle of magnificent listening goodies at gourmet-level. One can hear the voice of Robert Owens whispering "Take a ride inside of deep" in Rob Pearson and C-Soul's "Escape From The Madness" - directed straight at the listeners. Enjoy over one hour of the absolute finest Deep- and Tech House. Get your tickets and never disembark the train!
Da Funk - The Throwdown

Switzerland in 1991. The electronic music began to crowd its fans. In front a teenager called Da Funk. Electronic Music had done it to the young man and he began to deal with the whole scene. First party attendances were the result and Da Funk was definitely fallen in love with the music. In the middle of the 90'ies, which Da Funk naturally through-live with excessive celebrations on innumerable Parties and Club nights, the normal celebrating as a music consumer did not gave him the sufficient kick anymore. Thus the music-possessed young man began to acquire himself how to Mix. Soon the first gigs came at smaller, usually illegal parties around Winterthur. In winter 1996 the first large gig in Zurich followed and Da Funk were rocking the floor. Further bookings troughout Switzerland followed. The attendance of a Spanish party island '97 rang the end of his DJ activity. The sufficient satisfaction by playing records only and in holidays with a new music direction infected, the DJ project was hung to the nail. House Music was the new born child of Da Funk. A time of re-direction followed and Da Funk returned into the role of the consumer for a short moment. Dormant sitting around and nothing doing aren't characteristics Da Funk call his own and so he courageously move on to a further step. Producing own sounds and tracks should be it. He began to build up his own Studio and working with large eagerness at his musical ideas.
Lukas Greenberg - Rhode´Stories

Nikolas Jakoby a.k.a. Lukas Greenberg definitely is no newcomer in the electronic music scene. He started his career in the early 90ies as a hip hop dj and played at famous venues like the tresor, 90Grad and KitCat. Quite a lot residencies and years of dance floor experience brought him to own productions which he started on an Atari Mega 2. He founded his label "Synphon Records" and received remix requests from Peter Schilling amongst others. It's easy to see that after more than ten years in the business his musical background is based on a broad variety of influences and styles – so is his music and what else than Plastic City could be the perfect platform for the height of his creativity. Last year he had his first appearance at "Play Plastic City" and his debut EP "Behind Doors" earlier this year drew attention to this fantastic musician, producer and DJ. The "Rhode Stories" again verify his sense for high quality listening stuff: He rolls out his musical range while connecting all tracks like writing a book. He produced several introductions for the "chapters" and after listening the whole album one is convinced about a theory behind the compilation of the songs. He rides on a wave of downbeat, electro, house, easy listening and some more ingredients which make you feel comfortable about listening to the "Stories" again and again. This is an outstanding collection of tracks – influenced by people, life and musical history and hits bulls eye aiming at the Plastic City philosophy. Enjoy the warm and bright atmosphere - high quality listening pleasure!
Forteba - Space Between Us

Forteba or Krisztian Dobrocsi, as he is known to his proud parents, hails from the Hungarian city of Vac where he found his true calling relatively early, with sweet eighteen: producing electronic music of all colours. His early compositions were settled near breakbeat and chill-out area but he soon found his passion in straight rhythms and arrangements inspired by German deep-house stuff. He is setting exceptional production standards, sophisticated rhythms and arrangements which combine house music and elements and atmospheres of dub and ambient. His debut on Plastic City once again brought more emotion and deepness to the standardised landscape of house. The second single is taken from the upcoming album of the hungarian producer who is reinterpreting and developing all facets of house music. It's a delicate extract of his style diversity. Broad, deep and breathtakingly beautiful – meanwhile always forward and clubby.
Rob Pearson vs. C-Soul feat. Robert Owens
Rob Pearson was growing up in South London, had various musical influences and soon started creating his own sound regardless of the gear he was using. He has been working amongst Tippa Irie, Cedric Myton & The Congos, Marc Almond, So Solid, UKApache and many more, produced number one hits, runs Evasive Records as a successful label and has been in business at studio and countless decks for more than a decade. Actually he's workin on his debut album and with "Escape from the Madness" he is proving his status as underground house hero collaborating with Robert Owens who worked with the likes of Coldcut and Photek and comes up with his lovely voice. Incl. a massive The Timewriter Remix!
Adam Jace - Northern Lights
This laidback, twenty-something, ex South African, Sydney dweller lives and breathes house music. His sound is described as unique and forward thinking, breaking down genre boundaries effortlessly and representing club-focused music at its very best. As a DJ, he has played across Sydney's finest venues and club nights including his residency at Habit, where he has supported the likes of Ricky Ryan, Sonny Wharton and local hero's Matt Rowan & Jaytech. As a producer, his contest winning remix of Urban Medicine's 'Momentum', on FBSS, shed first light on this new young talent. His debut EP titled, 'Northern Lights' was picked up by the legendary Plastic City where he joins the ranks of highly regarded artists such as The Timewriter, Terry Lee Brown Junior, Gui Boratto and many more. His track 'Doktor Deep' is featured on The Timewriter's forthcoming mix compilation; Deep Train Vol 5. What may be considered ones career highlight, this twenty-something has achieved on his first release – not bad!

The day machines learned how to love,
the satellites careened one last time round the
earth till they’d spent all their power, petered out and
burned up in the atmosphere.
Things had come full circle.
At the dawn of the 18th century they’d entered the
evolutionary arena as a brand new species.
At first, although they soon evinced creaturely
emotions and musical intuition, the humanoids exploited
them as tractable slaves.
The machines – and this is the latest
zoologically accurate designation for this life
form – have only undergone their long overdue
emancipation in our day.Under their nom de guerre
“Alphawezen”, Ernst Wawra and his singing
comrades-in-arms Asu, Verena, Simone and Fred
have already twice demonstrated their expertise in the
weird and wonderful world of electro-apparatus.
Their first two sound carriers,
“L'Après-Midi d'un Microphone”
and “En Passant”, floated with somnambulistic
lightness and poise over the fertile no-man’s
land between the genres of trip-hop, house and
electropop, hovering over the fine line
between art and kitsch.
A typical Alphawezen recording session is
less like a composer’s studio session than
a conspirative get-together, replete with elated
twitterings and chirpings, murmured and whispered
exchanges of secrets and piquant remarks.
The reward for this courteous treatment of the
machines resonates through the very first track:
“Green Eyes” is possessed of a complex and
magical melancholy peculiar to creatures who,
after centuries of slavery, have at long last been
proffered a helping hand
(namely, Mr. Wawra’s nimble-fingered one).
The masterfully interwoven melodies, which have
become hallmarks of Alphawezen’s music,
evoke en passant delectable scenes in the mind’s eye
of the attentive listener. In this case it’s the iridescent
self-abnegating “tears in rain” that android replicant
Roy Batty talks about so movingly in the
movie Blade Runner.
But the forceful string theme at the close of the piece
intimates that some day the machines might no longer
take their exploitation “lying down”, as it were.
We can only hope compassionate voices like
Asu’s here will then assuage their rage:
“Hush, hush, let's get lost,” she sings, or rather whispers,
to us on the second track, “Gun Song”. And indeed,
the strings that come in again at the end of the song
are no longer marching toward their just cause,
but exude a sighing soulful well-being like that of the
Beast bewitched by its beloved Beauty. Before you yield
yourself up in wonder to the astounding maturity of
Wawra’s menagerie of machines in the serene climes
of the redemptive grand finale hymn “Doux Rêves”,
there’s a lot to discover – and sometimes even to smile at.
In “Film3” or “Freeze”, for instance, Wawra elicits
from a very affable specimen of an old Korg synthesizer
the very sweetest of sound-pearls from the depths of his
creaturely trance. On this third album Alphawezen
takes us through the vast realm between experimentation
and calculated effects, bringing us full circle to the first album.
Since the days of the legendary band Kraftwerk, many
have shown that machines can produce more than just
rhythmically repetitive booming and thumping.
But it wasn’t till Alphawezen’s musical experiments
that we learned that polyphonically intertwined enunciations
of their vitality have the melodic quality and complexity
of 19th-century Italian arias. Naturally, the next question
is what skills this lovable species needs to learn now to
attain at long last the coveted status of fully-fledged living beings.
The answer is: breathing.

EIGENART - Malia
[kju:] as the 17th letter of the alphabet
is synonymous with quiet, quite electronic,
quality conscious, quayside music which finds
a way between commercial easy listening
and personal reference, between dance floor
and sofa comfort. [kju:] looks for their artists’
concerns as well as their listeners wishes.
You can hardly peg [kju:] as a certain
category of label or sound. Eigenart comes
along the catalogue with an impressive,
bright and various album. Claus Pieper is
the multitalented face behind many
productions for more than a decade
and had major success with countless
releases and projects.
Just to name an example he was one
of members of world famous Genlog
in the 90s but after leaving stage he
concentrated on deeper sounds and
emotional experiences as you can
quite obviously hear.
Eigenart defines time and space as
not existent and takes you up and away to
leave everything behind.
Twelve inspiriting tunes conducted by a
gentle summer breeze encase the listener
and document Pieper’s knowledge which
reaches deep into easy listening history.
Multifunctional extraordinary!
