City Life: Underground New York
City Life is the series which aims to bring
together the coolest "underground" labels those that are at
the forefront of house music to present a collection of house
ranging from loungey, sophisticated vibes to the
four-to-the-floor main room smashes.
City Life will feature the best from individual
labels and acts that typify the sounds from the cities
from which they hail. Two labels that champion the house sound,
and with over a decades worth of releases to their respective names,
come head-to-head on City Life, Seamless series aimed at
bringing together the coolest "underground" labels from
around the world at the cutting edge of house music.
BPM King Street Sounds was launched in 1993
and along with its sister imprint, Nitegrooves,
continues its exemplary tradition of releasing a veritable
who's who of contemporary dance greats: Masters At Work,
Roger Sanchez, David Morales, DJ Pierre, Kerri Chandler,
Mood II Swing, Blaze, Urban Soul, Danny Tenaglia,
Cevin Fisher, have all helped to make them one of the most
respected labels in their field.
Today their sound covers everything from abstract
Afro-jazz excursions and tech-edged progressive beats,
to soaring diva house and gospel vocals. Across the
Hudson River in New Jersey resides the offices of
Gossip Records whose catch phrase, "have you heard?" is an
equally apt tag for a label that since its inception,
over a decade ago, has given us everything from raw underground
tracks by the likes of Harry "Choo-Choo" Romero and Jose Nunez,
to Infectious lyrics and timeless melodies from
Live Element, Hott 22 and Loleatta Holloway.
The Native New Yorkers (yet another alias for the
production duo of Greg Bahary & Chris Malinchak) mixing up a
frenzy of bombastic beats and tribal rhythms with their s
election that blends new with old and future classics into the melting pot.

Nobody tolerate more the eighties revival , right? More or less.
The great problem is when the emulation of sounds of the past
becomes an overdose, pasteurizing the own formula. Happily,
this is not the case of Júnior Boys, that rescues some good
moments of the eighties without appealing for the easiness. The main reference that she come to mind to the first
audition of "Only This Is Goodbye" is the tecnopop
and the synth-pop of groups as ABC, Human League,
Depeche Mode and the Flock of Seagulls and even
Eurythmics. Formed by the Canadians Jeremy Greenspan
and Johnny Dark, Júnior Boys inaugurated in disk in the idos
of 2004 with "Last Exit" a singles collection thrown previously
and they conquered the independent ways quickly.
For this second disk, the "band" counts on a sound engineer.
Matthew Didemus. substituting Johnny Dark - but maintaining
the class and the style typical of a more concerned generation
with the confluence of this everything with the music,
that with the image generated starting from these elements.
Of the opening strip, "Double Shadow" to the closing with "FM",
the one that we see is a concerned couple in sounding pop, but without
losing his electronic side synthesized for the good. This concern is
clear starting from the moment in that we divided the disk in two
different half. The first, emulating the eighties sound, and Monday
updating him and approximating him much more of the
parents of the matter Kraftwerk, transforming Júnior Boys in a
type of best of of the electronic sounds of all of the times.
Júnior Boys' synthesized sounds. that per times seem to
sound organic, such it is the cleaning and vivacity of his work.
they are enough to remember that nor only of music for the tracks
lives the electronics. He/she separates garlics of gallnuts.
A series of artists exists using the synthesizer and
mixing everything in concerned computers in using the electronics
in the music, and no the electronic music. In spite of seeming
simplistic, this reasoning makes sense, still more when
we worked daily and directly with a generation that
prefers to simplify everything and to label for the evil.
Thinking well, maybe it is always good to emulate the sounds
of the past, if it goes on behalf of the good musical education,
as they make Júnior Boys.

here are the covers from BARGROOVES --> AZURE & CITRUS
once again with: Bargrooves " Citrus "

“Citrus”, like its definition, is ripe, fresh and juicy.

Oozing with some of the finest cuts from some of the world’s leading players
in soulful house, Latin-infused rhythms and spiritually-kissed garage.
Soul aviator, and captain of the ship, Ben Sowton is behind the first disc
that features an aural wall of languid beats, ethereal vocals and smooth
musicianship, typified by the multi-talented Ross Couch on the lush and
dreamy “Across the World”, setting a tempo that rarely fluctuates until
the closing refrains of Kerri Chandler’s rich keyboard flourishes and firmly
muscular bassline on “So Let The Wind Come”. --Ben’s sound is typically
inspired by his peers – MAW, Blaze and Jazzanova – with a mixture
of feel-good dance-influences and jazzy flavours underpinning
the foundations of his mix.
Less-is-more with warm strings, soothing vocals, guitar-riffs
and brass-stabs that are as contemporary as they are timeless,
with “Cuban Blues” typical of these ingredients; its enveloping sound
sucking you further-and-further in with each successive looped bar.
Like his contemporaries this is a musician-lead mix with an equally
strong selection of vocalists plying their trade throughout. --The tempo ups a
notch on Matthias Heilbronn’s disc, which opens with Âme’s acclaimed mix
of Roy Ayers’ and sets a tone to a more abstract journey.
His love of warm danceable grooves, with a strong and sometimes
leftfield-edge that reflects not only his DJ style, but also the
very essence of this collection.
Now well into his second decade as a DJ and producer, Matty’s
style of mixing is uncomplicated yet still slick, allowing the music
to speak greater volumes than the DJ’s skills. A true quicksilver
talent he’s created a mixture of pizzazz and pathos that swings to a soulfully
sophisticated pendulum. From stark house sounds of Rodamaal’s cult
underground classic-in-the-making “Insomnia” to Bobby D’Ambrosio’s
equally anthemic remake of “Runaway Love”. Edgy in parts, deeper in others,

MOUSSE T VS THE DANDY WARHOLS 'HORNY AS A DANDY'
(PEPPERMINT JAM)
'Horny As A Dandy' started out in life as an underground bootleg in France,
it came about when remixers Loo & Placido, decided to mash up
Mousse T's 'Horny' with The Dandy Warhols 'Bohemian Like You',
resulting in a lovely slab of Bastard Pop, that went on to be a hit. Well now it's
set for a full release, AND it comes with a couple of excellent remixes.
Tom Novy is up first, he comes in on rolling toms with an epic 10 minutes of
stripped back acid house, gradually building the percussion while
the all important bass & synth riffs are slightly tweaked, building to a whooshing
rushing sensation. You can even taste the strawberry flavoured smoke.
So Phat! Deliver the other mix, rockinâ out with post punk funk bass & guitar,
and even adding a few seductive punkette rock chick vocals.
Both remixes are absolutely outstanding.
"GROOVELIKER & JAKUB RENE KOSIKFEEL - SO GOOD"
(PROGCITY) PCMS0059
This is a very special one sided coloured vinyl!
Watch out for this highly limited collectors item coming soon in september! "Feel So Good" is unique in its style, an ultra low kick drum (attention!)
meets an absolutely crazy, freaky spoken male vocal.
It has already been played by lots of DJs during the Love Parade
weekend and got an amazing response!
Where they are come from?
GROOVELIKER and JAKUB RENE KOSIK are two producers/djs from the south-west of Poland. Grooveliker has been one of Poland's top djs for years and Jakub is one of the young, most promising talents coming from Poland.
"MARTIN BRODIN - Big Bang"
Martin Brodin is the owner and founder of Sweden's deep-house label, Deeplay Music.
He is the man who discovered such great talents as Physics and Dalminjo.
He is always open to new ideas and sounds, which is often reflected in his talent
as a DJ and producer. Martins first single Semitone Shuffle
(released on Deeplay Soultec), was highly supported from the likes
of Laurent Garnier (F-Com), James Holden (Border Community),
Kenny Hawkes, Dave Mothersole (Kiss 100) and Mattias Tanzmann (Moon Harbour).
Now he delivers another big tune for Prog City Records. "Big Bang" has already
been featured on our limited WMC Box and received some great response so far.
Nearly one month after Miami, we are proud to present you a new
Prog City two tracker with the original and a deeper cut, remixed by So Phat.

Yonderboi - Splendid Isolation
The crow is a symbol for wisdom and prophecies. Because crows eat
cadaver, they sometimes also symbolize the malice and all the bad
things in themselves. They wait for death of the hanged to then pick pieces
of meat from their body. A hopeless image. Exactly here Yonderboi´s new
work begins. A sad children's choir stands on an empty field under pitch-black
deep hanging rain clouds ready between a murder of crows on the way to hell.
This is the first sombre dreadful picture which 24-year-old artist László Fogarasi produces at the beginning of his album which is immediately a small resignation from his own musical past. The Film Noire has retired. The second album rises more and more into something absolutely unexpected... Having exchanged the forests of Somogy county for the Budapest, his new record "Splendid Isolation" is more mature and more urban than the amazing first album "Shallow and Profound". While his first album was made intuitively and 'just happened', a great deal of thought has gone into his second record.
It is especially influenced by an unexpected source: the art-house films Yonderboi has been watching the last couple of years. Like a good movie, "Splendid Isolation" tells a many-layered story that builds up to a trippy ending. Structure, build up and portions of suspense have been considered consciously. And, as in a film, the secret is not revealed until the very end. Yonderboi's Hungarian background greatly affects his music. Travelling Europe and the US has made this even more apparent. He finds western people more relaxed, less in need of asking big questions and more straightforward in their approach to life. In Eastern Europe life is never clear cut. The contrast between the cold winters and hot summers typical of the region is reflected in the conflicting emotions of the people. Life is bitter sweet, joy is accompanied by tears.

“Euphonic Perspectives”
The successful Listening Pearls series goes into the next round with “Euphonic Perspectives”.

Quality has always been capitalised in the house of Mole. And quality is an obligation! “Euphonic Perspectives” is a terrific track selection, full of emotion and atmosphere – 18 handpicked tracks by outstanding artists presenting an all-embracing exhibition of future Mole releases – defining
the recent status quo of advanced electronic music, giving the listener a feeling of complete satisfaction. The musical bandwidth on this CD is amazingly wide. Although or probably even on that account different styles are uniting in a felicitous fashion to a harmonic ensemble. The title “Euphonic Perspectives” is the name of the game!18 artists are opening these perspectives of euphony for us in an impressive and easy going way, presenting veritable sound pearls.

This CD starts off with “Que Sera” by Wax Tailor who is going to convince everybody soon with his album “Tales of the Forgotten Melodies” that is build around Hip Hop and Downtempo. The enthusiastically admired Mole act Yonderboi is bringing us a breeze of Panonian melancholy with a discreet Rock attitude in their wonderful „Were You Thinking of Me?“ – in complete contrast to synthie-electro-infected “Freeze” by Alphawezen or “Nobody´s Dean”,Minus 8´s synthie-pop-homage to Hollywood legend James Dean.

This is exactly the thing “Euphonic Perspectives” is standing for: Exciting contrasts that melt into a perfect symbiosis because of the harmony and the high standard of sound aesthetic inhering in every single track. Artists such as Airmate, Nagra, Moon, Q-Point, Lemongrass, Sandboy feat. Nanar Vorperian, The Lushlife Project, the Czech band Khoiba and many more succeed in getting us out of our grey everyday life with their talent for wonderful melodies, inviting us on a journey through their sound universe, exploring one listening pearl after another. Each of it is a unique and incomparable one, thrilling to eye from several perspectives, looking different, shining different every time. All these pearls are growing together slowly and gently to a big puzzle with the name „Euphonic Perspectives“.

“Deep Train Vol. 4 – Round Trip”

Is the follow up to a very exceptional and successful compilation series. Jean F. Cochois aka The Timewriter is one of the most respected DJs and producer in his genre for more than 10 years. And he is an artist with high demands.

You could already hear this on his remixes for acts like Mike Oldfield, Faithless, Yello, Boy George, Frankie Knuckles or Rammstein, but above all, on his recently released fourth artist album “Paintbox”. “Round Trip” is the subtitle of the new CD and it´s the motto as well . Jean F. Cochois has arranged the 16 compiled tracks with a subtile dramaturgy.

He succeeded in realising the daring feat of combining progressive, danceable tracks with relaxed, warm-hearted, atmospheric grooves. With his unmistakeable intention, he is uniting tracks with different colours to an expressive ensemble – diversified with a proper portion of dynamic and homogenous in a perfect way at the same time.

So you can find outstanding artists such as Ananda Project, Sean Dimitri & Tim Fuller, Johne Dahlback, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Kevin Sunray, Bar BQ, Budai & Vic, Discouraged Ones, Gabo, Muzzaik, Chris Udoh, Dousk, Justin Martin, The Timewriter himself, with an up to now unreleased track and Trentemoeller, offering a great finish with his minimal-atmospheric “The Forest”. Mary Joe, whose vocals could already be heard on “Booty Song”, is accompanying the listener with her spoken words through selected sites in this mix and gives an absolute distinctive blend to this compilation. “Round Trip” is more than a simple compilation of unique tracks – this selection is splashing pure passion and love to music.

Profile: Jean Frank Cochois aka The Timewriter was born into a family where music played a vital part in everyday life. From the age of 13 on, he got trained in classical music and was sent to a music boarding school. Soon he started experimenting with electronic music while also including acoustic instruments. After several band memberships and three theatre music projects, Frank produced his first Album ‚The Timerewinder‘ in 1994. The LP got released under his alias JFC on Mole Listening Pearls not before 1997 though. It was Tom Wax who introduced Frank Cochois to the upcoming label Plastic City in 1995. Next to Terry Lee Brown Jr., The Timewriter would become THE most influential arist in the development of Plastic City as one of the major outlets for TechHouse in Germany and beyond. His albums and mix-compilations have gained The Timewriter an excellent international reputation. Fans and experts alike also agree on his more downbeat-oriented project JFC with releases on Elektrolux a.o. In 2004, Frank holds a monthly DJ residency at Sven Väth's state-of-the-art Cocoonclub in Frankfurt.

Anima Sound System

We Strike

have never been average, have never been conformed, have never been upper classy.
And their attitude didn´t change with “We Strike!”.
Without any exaggeration Anima Sound System is the
hottest and most exciting collective Hungary´s pulsating
electronic music scene has to offer.
With their brand new album Anima Sound System has finally
transcended the Hungarian boarders, raising their voices against
racism and homophobia, carrying their invocations for
individual freedom and the underprivileged victims of our so
called free-market economy into the world. In a world where the gap
between rich and poor is increasing, where the freedom of individuals
is getting more and more restricted, in a world where shareholder
interests count more than human rights and wars are about oil,
in this world it´s time to stand up and defend!
This is the tenor of “We Strike!”.
Consequently this album is not about a never ending party,
the abhorrently happy teenage life of millionaire heiress buying herself a
pink Ferrari to be en vogue and dressing up like a high-class hooker
to cause the attention she is considering as respect.
This album is about war, unemployment and social drawbacks,
this is album is about the real world we are all living in!
Songs like “World at War”, “Technotoys Blues”, “Open Your Eyes”
or the title track “We Strike!” want to galvanize us,
explaining that we are a part of the system as well, sometimes
without even noticing it.Anima Sound System succeeds in transferring
their messages flavoured with social ideologies, based on
an explosive fundament of radical mixed influences from
entirely different styles, in a fascinating way.
They are on their tightrope walk between the genres,
fusing Dub, Downbeat, Broken Beats with housy elements,
rocking Dance Hall riddims as well as their Panonian roots.
For all sophisticated music lovers out there who expect
admirable music in combination with non-conformist lyrics
based on social criticism.
“We Strike!” is a "must have"!

Terry Lee Brown Junior
Addiction one in the internet after Terry´s cafe,

Terry Lee Browns Mix-Compilation-Serie is regarded
at all as one of the best in the genre.
And during the eighth part of the film "Eis an dem Stiel" only shoulder twitch evoked,
the eighth edition of Terry´s cafe rather is variation of the very
well matured James Bond-Serien, touched lovingly and not listlessly shaken
like other ausgelutschte Compilation-Series.

spread of House-Musik without drawer thinking in 8 once again.
The CD fits into all possible situations, winds elegantly through all heights
and low of the day. Music for undulations, not only for the Prime-Time,
in the club but also suitable to the Autofahren or for a quiet hour
in the living room.
Terry lee Brown Jr has been for years., alias Norman Feller, a solid component of the cream of international House producers. He began in 1989 as DJ, produced miscellaneous albums and Compilations under miscellaneous pseudonyms and
shaped the Subgenre Tech-House like no other.
His performances as a producer and DJ are full of love and passion of the music.
His fans call its style "Terry cut" lovingly, that runs again irresistibly
on Terry´s cafe through the mix in 8.
To the outstanding artists, that Terry lee Brown Jr. selected
as always carefully and placed 8 on Terry´s cafe in scene,
Kraak&Smaak count Acts like Swayzak, Robert Babicz,
and cannot be missing The Timewriter of course.
At the end of the wonderful Compilation, an again unreleased Track of Terry lee Brown Jr rounds.

PROPAGANDA
Valley Of The Machine Of Gods
After more than 12-years Propaganda is back with a new vinyl release! With the number of comebacks of 80`s outfits who obviously try to re-live their past instead of following their personal musical developement, this comes as an utter breath of fresh air.
There's a good mix from Music Cargo which sounds very much like the New York disco-punk tracks from D.F.A., while Adam Kroll delivers a tight 4/4 reworking.
Comes in lush fold out poster packaging.
(2005 German exclusive Strictly Limited Edition 4-track 12" vinyl single - after a 12 year break they return with a huge cinematic style recording with the technical perfection of the American and the courage & emotion of the Asian big screen, including remixes by MusicCargo and Adam Kroll, presented with a large fold-out poster picture sleeve housed in PVC sleeve for added protection - 1 in a series of 4!)
** limited to just 500 copies WORLDWIDE **
Synth-pop band Propaganda released albums from the mid-80's until l990, and followed up with a number of re-releases and 'unreleased' releases. This record, first in a series of four, features a new track, the divinely jazz and 60's inspired 'Valley Of The Machine Gods'. Three remixes in all; there's the demi-ambient electronica of the More Discipline mix, and the genre-defying and quite unusual remix from newcomer Musiccargo. Adam Kroll's remix is a deep click house/ minimal affair with delicate fragrances of the jazz in the original and plenty of warmth and ambience. Highly unusual release and a gem for home listening or a chilling club space.
