******* ADJD ******
are
presente:
Chronicles of the Urban Dwellers
“ADJD” whispers a mysterious male vocal promisingly.
Building a dark and subliminally sexy house atmosphere
that has slowly morphed into ADJD’s trademark,
the two Stockholm-New York-based producers who
got to know each other while selling records to scenesters
back in the Nineties got their gear together only a
few years ago – under difficult circumstances as
Alexi Delano had moved himself to New York.
Nevertheless, they were finding enough time to get
together for some exploding studio sessions full of
ringing cell phones that culminate in heavy house workouts
that ooze sex and mystery - “I Want You” and
“Catch me In The Dark” are two prime examples
for their use of explicit vocals that still leave the heated
dancers in the dark – all perfect proof that their
pristine house productions are paying respect to classic
acid house as well as the darker clubbier Chicago stuff
of the early days of house music without being
trapped in a time loop. Tracks like “Lost In Sequence”
show their great ability to get totally zonked out by
tripping on their own wicked creations, and “Where We’re Going”
is the perfect proof for freaky sonics in a classic
vain that has absolutely nothing dated about
it as it is so gaga. This follow-up of their debut
album “Quarter of A Century”, released 2000, should
shake these flexing bodies that cannot resist a driving
bassline in the vain of their Pokerflat style productions
that made them one hot act to watch out for in 2001.
Now, they are back hotter and more intense
than ever – time to celebrate the sound evolution of ADJD!

for those who wants to learn something about music, hehehehehe...
Mstrkrft are the DJ and remix projects
of DFA 1979's Jesse Frederick Keeler and
studio master Al-P; merging rock and electro to
create a French synth-pop sound. Our heroes are
slightly short of spectacular on their debut album.
The tone is set with opener 'Work on You,'
with a glitched-out robotic voice repeating
"I'm gonna work on you until you treat me right,
I'm gonna make you mine, under the disco lights.
" The first single from the album, 'Easy Love,'
continues with the very disco-ish repetitive
noise of the previous track, with thumping
retro bass and a synthesized sound.
'She's good for Business' changes dramatically with
hard synths and drums. The DFA 1979 influence
is smeared all over 'Paris.'
The strength and the downfall of this album
is the use of the same formula. It's as if Daft Punk
had a hand in making the album- dirty synths,
robotic vocals, guitars, all reminiscent of the
French Sound, not to say that it's a bad thing,
but that it's already been done. Even with
this formula being used the boys do it justice
by adding their swagger to it. The album is
easily listenable from start to finish. 'The Look'
is a promising debut from the duo…one thing
is guaranteed, they will have you dancing.

MSTRKRFT - The Looks

MSTRKRFT emerges from the rubble of Death

From Above 1979 (rest their souls), and is as

stripped down and single minded as their name suggests.

They don't even have time for vowels. Like the dispensing

of cheap metals during the creation of alloy, MSTRKRFT

has melted down all the fat from its name, and become steel.

A crowd of consonants. Is this a good thing? My vote is... mostly.

The initial success of MSTRKRFT came out of their
glorious remixes, and I think that is a very important factor.
Jesse Keeler and Al-P are masters of finding the dance
beat in existing songs. Take one listen to their mix of
Wolfmother's "Woman," and you will never listen to the
original track again. The only potential problem
with remixes, are they are given a complete (and successful)
song structure as their base. What happens when there
is only the drone of computer fans and fluorescent lighting?
The Looks happens. A free-for-all of catchy beats and
gorgeous production that can't always find a home.
If you are new to MSTRKRFT,
I would start with "Easy Love."
The infectious electro pop will usher
you into the world of The Looks. Once there,
push play on "Paris" and enjoy the ride.
