Nouvelle Vague do New Wave in a Bossa Nova style. New Wave, Nouvelle Vague, Bossa Nova, get it? When translated they all mean literally the same thing, but this project unifies their other meanings into a sexy, swinging whole. Unsettling it may be, but it makes for compelling listening. A post-modern revolution, or just Jose Feliciano for the '00s?
Incognito return with their 11th studio album, which features 11 tracks, and they are now working live as an 11-piece band. Hence the album title is "Eleven". Most of the vocalists from the last album "Adventures In Black Sunshine" are again featured Maysa is vocalist on three tracks, with Imaani and Tony Momrelle also singing lead - but one cut 'Show Me Love' features a guest vocal cameo from fellow Dome artist Carleen Anderson. The album displays all the Incognito trademark sounds so loved by their loyal fan base, stunning horn arrangements, sultry ballads and some outstanding vocals and harmonies. 'We Got Music' is certain to be a club favourite, and the instrumentals 'Let The Mystery Be' and 'Jacaranda' are outstanding.
Incognito's Eleven is all class. I'm a huge fan of Incognito, and never been disappointed with any of the CDs. Favourite songs - We Got Music and When Tomorrow Brings you Down, brings sunshine to my heart. The beautiful vocals by Maysa is such a great addition to the collection of songs. Eleven is excellent for background music, and real smooth for dance!

the track list next:

1 - Let The Mystery Be 2 - We Got Music 3 - Come Away With Me 4 - Baby It's All Right 5 - When Tomorrow Brings You Down 6 - Jacaranca 7 - Show Me Love 8 - Will I Ever Learn 9 - I'll Get By 10 - It's Just One Of Those Things 11 - As Long As It's You

Following on from the success of the recent Miami 2006 collection – the world’s leading quality dance music label return with their annual Eivissa compilation, focussing on the Balearic charms of legendary clubbing destination Ibiza.

This 3 CD collection features 2 discs mixed to perfection by Defected head honcho Simon Dunmore which showcase the freshest quality house sprinkled with carefully selected legendary tracks from the Island of Dance.

CD1 reflects deeper Balearic cuts and forms the perfect accompaniment to those Ibizan sunset moments, while CD2 moves towards the peak time stormers that define the hedonistic late night atmosphere the White Isle is famed for.

The third disc is a special treat, boasting full length unmixed Ibiza classics brought to you by a DJ who continues to embody the spirit and passion that Ibiza is famed for in the same way he has done for the last 20 years as a resident at the Island’s finest clubs – DJ Pippi. Selected tracks from the 3 CDs will also be available on the 2 double pack vinyl LPs.

Eivissa 2006 is the latest in a collection that continues to purvey the true sound of the world’s finest DJs and dance music destinations – it is the commitment to create albums that not only push the hottest and latest tunes of the moment but also work as snapshots of what makes the chosen artist or location special that consistently results in releases that will by played for years to come.

This is not to say, of course, that the compilation isn’t brimming with exclusive and devastating dancefloor material such as Bob Sinclar’s soon to be huge World, Hold On, Shake Dat Booty from Three Kings, Mr. V’s Da Bump, Djaimin’s Give You, Ame’s super-deep Rej, People All Over The World from Phurry Freaks and an exclusive edit of Always There by Willie Bobo among others.

These inclusions are supported by timeless classics from Jomanda, Paperclip People, Gat Décor and Hysteric Ego to create a fusion of soul, disco and house which make this collection pure Ibiza and pure Defected – if any further proof was needed that Eivissa 2006 is THE soundtrack to another year on the Island, catch Defected In the House every Tuesday throughout the season at the lengendary Pacha for the full club experience.

Royksopp - Beautiful Day Without You ( from the The Understanding - Album )

Beautiful Day Without You (Rex The Dog Remix) Starts electric, laidback feel with lots of strange 'futuristic' sounds, very different from the original. Changes instruments very often, which makes it kind of eclectic to my opinion, i'm not very enthousiast about this one, though it might have to grow on me.

Beautiful Day Without You (Cass And Mangan Mix) Sounds a bit like Romantikske Sloyd, I like it how they made Beautiful Face instead of Beautiful day. It's kind of a disco mix of Beautiful day without you, Lots of bleeps again - sounds like a commodore 64. Definately a re-mix.

Beautiful Day Without You (Wighnomy And Robag Whruhmes Spekkfakkel Remikks) This one is very very chill, like you'd expect the röyksopp guys themselves to do it. A track suitable for Cafe Del Mar, Sounds nice.

None of the remixes topped the original. The spring-ish feeling of the original is untouchable, and none of the mixes uses the bridge 'when, i'm alone..' or the great chord changes that are in the original. The Wighnomy mix is the best out of 3, but still not great, with a maximum of 3 stars out of 5.

01 Beautiful Day Without You (Rex The Dog Remix) 07:36

02 Beautiful Day Without You (Cass And Mangan Living Underdog Remix) 05:50

03 Beautiful Day Without You (Wighnomy And Robag Whruhmes Spekkfakkel Remikks) 05:49

04 Beautiful Day Without You (Album Version) 05:19

YAM WHO Feat. Noel Mckoy

" Summertime"

Papa Records welcome another of our favourite producers to the label as Yam Who? debut with 'Summertime' - their take on the Leroy Burgess produced classic from High Frequency. Featuring vocals from London soul legend Noel McKoy 'Summertime' is a joyful uptempo boogie house hybrid. Laced with organic drums, a hefty dose of key work, silky strings and soulful voices, it's guaranteed to induce warm sunny vibes no matter what the temperature is outside.

It was back in early 2003 that Yam Who? releases first started appearing in the record shops, firstly with their re-work of N'Dambi's 'Call Me' followed closely by the now seminal 'Reach The Sky', their re-edit of Raphael Saadiq's 'Skyy, Can You Feel Me'.

In the past couple of years they have been nothing short of prolific, working with some of the best labels and artists on the underground and commercial black music scene across a variety of musical styles encompassing Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, House, R'n'B and Broken Beat. In amongst those artists to receive the Yam Who? treatment you'll find the likes of Pharrell Williams (Frontin'), Little Brother (Make Me Hot), Alison Crockett (U R & Like Rain), Amp Fiddler (Dreamin'), Zero 7 (Somersault), Incognito (Show Me Love), Rodney P (The Nice Up), Bebel Gilberto (Baby) & John Legend (Used To Love You) to name just a few.

2005 saw them release their first original production with a cover of L.A. Boppers 'Wrap You Up' (Ubiquity Records) and this year they plan to release a compilation of their re-works.

The man with the golden voice, Noel McKoy, came to prominence in the 90's as singer, songwriter, band leader and producer with his 'family' band McKoy as well as via his collaborations with Jazz/funk legends The James Taylor Quartet.

His stunning soulful voice has led him to perform with the likes of Nu Colours, Snowboy, Sounds of Blackness, Courtney Pine, Juliet Roberts, Mica Paris and Beverley Knight to name but a few. Noel's collaboration with Yam Who? don't stop here either as they have done one of the mixes on Bluey (Incognito) & Noel's version of Donny Hathaway's classic 'One Day We'll All Be Free' out now on Expansion. Noel also has a track coming out on deVice in collaboration with Richard Salter, a self penned song titled 'Time'.

You can catch Noel at the Jazz Cafe throughout April opening for Incognito and in May hosting two nights for the Stevie Wonder Birthday tribute, and his latest album 'Cut From The Same Cloth' is due for release in mid June.
