NIGHT DRIVE MUSIC.....

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Born in the summer of 2004, the NUfrequency project is a collaboration between Shield and Cristiano Massera and Alessandro Ripamonti. The first single “808 (Why Oh Why)” is a fine combination of phat bass, tasty guitar hooks and a dreamy breakdown, plus the Dirty Vegas-esque melancholy lyrics of Tom Glide.
It has seen the big support from all the top jocks, from Sasha, Dave Seaman, Satoshi Tomiie to Sander Kleinenberg, Hernan Cattaneo and Armin Van Buuren, who requested it for his State Of Trance compilation. Pete Tong played it 8 times in his Essential Selection making it an Essential New Tune, and it has been one of the tunes at the Wmc ‘05 . The track, signed to Little Mountain, has been released in Europe in March/April 2005.
NUfrequency have followed the success with remixes for Sander Kleinenberg “The Fruit”, Jupiter Ace “1000 Years”, Robbie Rivera “Some kind of heaven”, West London Deep “Inside my head”, Basto “Rock with you”, and, last in order, Tom Novy “My House”, which is going to be released soon on Kosmo, and Frank Ti Aya “One Love” for News / Hed Kandi.
They gave their touch to the Nina Simone classic “Black is the colour of my true love’s hair”, Chemical Brothers “Galvanize”, and Crazy Penis “Cruising”, receiving support from Chris Coco and Rob Da Bank in the Blue Room and Eddie Temple Morris. In 2006 Alessandro leaves NUfrequency, and after a long break, in 2007 Shield and Cristiano come back with a new single, “Love Sick”, which features the vocals of Plavka, best known for being the singer behind Jam & Spoon, whose trance-infused pop sound dominated the international charts in the mid 90’s (“Right in the night” was a world-wide number one).
It ‘s part of their album, on which they are working on at the moment, and featuring a lot of important collaborations. “Love Sick” has been released on Shield’s new label Rebirth in March 2007, alongside hot remixes from Cagedbaby, Tom Novy and Mock & Toof ! The track has been supported by all the biggest djs, including Pete Tong, who played the Cagedbaby mix as opener of his Radio Show, Axwell, Steve Lawler, Ewan Pearson, Carl Cox, Paul Harris, Sarah Main and Hed Kandi radio shows and also included in various compilations, among the others the Toolroom Knights Vol1 (Mixed by Paul Harris and Martijn Ten Velden, who both included it), Pure Pacha Compilation (Mixed by Pete Tong and Sarah Main), Bacardi Compilation (Mixed by Fedde Le Grande), Gorgeous Ibiza (Mixed by Tommy Vee).
NUfrequency are back in 2008 with “Go That Deep”, another taster from their first album. And this is something really special ! It features the beautiful vocals of the legend Shara Nelson, who achieved the success as member of British dance collective and trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack. Shara wrote and sung one of the biggest and most memorable anthems, and the group’s biggest hit, “Unfinished Sympathy,” and also co-wrote several other songs on their groundbreaking debut album, Blue Lines.
The Original mix of Go That Deep is a beautiful and sublime piece of music, an heart-breaking song with emotional lirycs and an extraordinary interpretation from Shara, a soul singer with a voice from heaven; dark and touching. Charles Webster goes deep and moody wilth an high quality mix, already loved and supported in every gig by Ben Watt, Âme, Dixon and Diesel on mp3 passed by Charles !!! Redanka couldn’t do a better work, with two fantastic mixes, bringing back the “old school” progressive house vibe.! Finally Neon Heights come up with a reflective early morning mood piece.
Released by Rebirth in March 2008 it received immediately great interest and reactions, supported all year by djs like Laurent Garnier, Ben Watt, Âme, Jazzanova, Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Groove Armada to name a few and considered as one of the best vocal tunes in years.
The single has been signed to NRK Records for the Uk market. NRK has been considered as one of the best english indipendent underground labels from many years, releasing music from the likes of Ian Pooley, Peace Division, Joey Negro (Akabu), Nick Holder, Miguel Migs. The release has been planned for end of September 2008 with new mixes from Skylark and Kemistry. NUfrequency are working on their first album with important collaborations like Plavka, Ben Onono and Snax among the others.
